These last few months have been a lesson in acceptance of what is. I’m blessed to have stayed healthy, if even while fighting great sadness from having my travel business come to a complete stop, watching my hometown of New York City struggle, and my second home, Sicily, be off limits to me. Nevertheless, I keep hope in my heart that from this dark time in our history, we will all learn see the wonder in the world around us and be kinder with each other. (This heart of marble I hold, I found on the beach in Castellammare del Golfo.)

Questi ultimi mesi mi sono serviti ad accettare la situazione così com’è. Sono stata davvero fortunata a non ammalarmi, anche se ho provato una grande angoscia nel dover interrompere del tutto la mia attività turistica, nel vedere la mia città natale, New York, in grande difficoltà e nel non poter raggiungere la mia seconda casa, la Sicilia. Tuttavia, serbo nel cuore la speranza che da questi tempi bui tutti noi potremo imparare a vedere quel che c’è di meraviglioso nel mondo intorno a noi e ad essere più gentili l’uno con l’altro.
