Palermo Rising

This article: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/12/world/europe/palermo-opera-teatro-massimo.html published in yesterday’s New York Times, brought tears to my eyes. It really demonstrates what is going on in Palermo, Italy’s Capital of Culture for 2018. I can’t express enough the wonder and excitement taking place in this vibrant city that has been rising from dark times for the past two and a half decades. Finally, international press that sheds a spotlight on why you should plan to visit Palermo during your travels to Italy! Not only is there so much activity in the performing arts, as explained here, but also there is so much happening with local music and theater, fine arts, and artist communities. And then of course, there is the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Arab-Norman patrimony that make it a must-experience.

Take a few moments to read this piece by Rod Nordland, and you’ll understand why I love Palermo.
