Carnevale Acireale At Night

It’s super late after a long day and evening of taking in the tricks, treats, and folk art of Carnevale in Acireale! The best part for me is talking to the people of the town about the festival and what it means to them. Pictured is one part of an elaborate float that featured the legend of Aci and Galatea. (See Hit and Myth (The Legend of Aci and Galatea)  for the full story.) These floats are beautiful works of art that teams of people create together over the course of the year. At night, they come to life with lights, music, and mechanical animation. It made me feel like a kid! I had to see each one..  And they were spread all over town!
