Three promontories give Sicily the name of the triangle shape, “Trinacria,” which came from the ancient Greeks: Capo Peloro (just northeast of Messina), Capo Lilibeo (the western point off of Marsala), and Capo Passero (the southeastern most point in Siracusa Province).
