Daily Bread

For Sicilians, a daily ritual is going to the panificio (a bakery) or the fornaio (a bakery with a serious oven) to purchase your bread for lunch and/or dinner. There’s nothing like fresh bread — like this batch I photographed in Bagheria. Mmmm….

  1. I can almost feel the freshness, moistness under the crust and warmth! Love fresh bread! Wish we had fresh bread stores everywhere in the US! Does remind me of my trip to Paris long ago, and of my breakfasts, lunches, dinners in Buenos Aires not that long ago! <3

    1. It is so nice to have freshly made bread. It’s an art we no longer have easily accessible in the US. A true treat in Sicily and Europe

    Yummy!!! This bread is just so crunchy and delicious! I remember this bakery and wish I could go there every day. Really miss good Sicilian bread 🍞🍞🍞
