LIVE from Sicily! | The annual feast of the Maria S.S. del Lume is taking place right now. Today, we went to the heart of it in the fishing village of Porticello, where devotees chanted and sang as they prepared to process the iconic painting of their Santissima who they believe protects them and their families throughout the year. The “taking down” of the painting from the mother church’s main alter was very emotional and chaotic. Devotees reached for and passed the painting as they rubbed their hands and handkerchiefs on it for good health, good fortune, and protection throughout the year ahead. | Enchanting Sicily tour, Day 11.
