Ciao from Stunning Sicily, Day 2!

Today we made our way to the south slope of Etna, where we met Benjamin North Spencer of Etna Wine School for a comprehensive lesson about wine making in this extraordinary terroir. Inhabitants of Sicily have been making vino here since before ancient Greek times, so to spend our second day understanding how the soil, climate, flora, past cultures, and more contribute to this vital product was foundational. Furthermore, to have our lesson, tasting, and lunch-pairing at Cantina Benanti Viagrande raised the experience-level to the max! A Sunday afternoon passeggiata in Zafferana Etnea followed by a breathtaking sunset over Etna from Taormina’s Villa Communale capped a memorable day.
