Cooking in Sicily Like A Family

“The whole experience of going into town to the butcher to get the sausage and then spending the afternoon outdoors with the group getting the meal prepared was wonderful. Everyone in our group was so nice and a pleasure to be around. I felt like I was with family,” wrote Linda from Madison, New Jersey, a participant in September 2019’s Stirring Sicily cooking and wine tour.

That day, after eating just-made ricotta at a dairy farm in the countryside, we went into the village of Ventimiglia di Sicilia and met the butcher. He showed us how he makes sausage–and we helped a bit too! Once loaded up with sausage, crusty bread, wine, and cheeses and honey from the farm, we headed into the forest, where chefs Antonino and Giuseppe fired up the grill. We delighted in a picnic, sang songs, and went for a soft hike to take in the breathtaking views of the valley below. We capped it off with gelato and cocktails in Nino’s hometown of Termini Imerese. What a joyful day!

You too can become part of the family during the next addition of Experience Sicily Stirring Sicily, September 16 to 23, 2020. Read the full itinerary at https://experiencesicily.com/2020-tours-of-sicily/stirring-sicily-sept-2020/
