Ficus On the Prize

This ficus tree (technically called a Ficus macrophylla) was planted in the Garibaldi Gardens of Palermo’s Piazza Marina in 1863 in recognition of the founding of the new nation of Italy. It is considered to be one of the largest ficus trees in Europe.
