Sicily is known for its rolling countryside, endless beaches, sun-kissed foods, and inimitable wines. Focusing on Sicily’s unique gastronomic heritage, award-winning author Benjamin North Spencer from the Etna Wine School and boutique tour operator Allison Scola from Experience Sicily offer a narrative tour of the Mediterranean island’s native grape varieties during a guided tasting of five Sicilian wines paired with seasonal cuisine prepared by Cacio e Pepe.
The afternoon marks the New York City launch of Spencer’s award-winning book, The New Wines of Mount Etna, and will include a reading and signing. Copies will be available for purchase.

About the Hosts
Benjamin North Spencer is the Director of Etna Wine School and author of The New Wines of Mount Etna. In addition to holding a Diploma from the London-based Wine & Spirit Education Trust, Ben is a journalist, wine judge, and a professional winemaker with two decades of experience working with artisan and internationally traded wine brands in California and Italy.
Allison Scola is founder, owner, and curator of Experience Sicily and the Cannoli Crawl. Named one of the experts for the 2019 New York Times Travel Show, Scola writes and lectures on Sicily and leads immersive tours and designs custom itineraries that delight discerning travelers. She has been featured on Rudy Maxa’s World with the Carey’s, America’s #1 Travel Radio Show and as the cannoli expert in the documentary Cannoli, Traditions Around the Table. Scola has lectured about Sicily at University of Pennsylvania, The New School, LIU Post University, Queens College, at high schools in the New York City metropolitan area, and at events in New York City.
