Day 14 of 16 Days of Sicily | World Class Theater | Every May through early July the INDA (National Institute of Ancient Dramatic Arts) presents ancient Greek theater in the ancient Greek theater in Siracusa. It’s a reason to travel to Sicily during this season of the year when temperatures are a bit cooler and the fields and flowers are in bloom. The Institute usually produces three classic dramas in rotation, from Oedipus Rex and Antigone to The Bacchae and The Trojan Women. Even if presented in Italian, armed with a English translation (and having read the play in advance), you will experience something outstanding during your travels in Sicily: world-class live theater.
