Vendicari Nature Reserve In Southeastern Sicily

Located on the southeastern coast of Sicily, Vendicari Nature Reserve was founded in 1984 to encourage birds and plant species to thrive on its approximately 3300 acres. It’s been a huge success with the constant presence of around 241 different species of birds living among the salt water and fresh water marshes and lagoons. Supporting our feathered friends are hundreds of different plant species.

For us humans, we are invited (you’ll feel like a guest of the wildlife) to enjoy the ruins of an ancient tuna fishery, serene, long pathways, and about 5 miles of natural coastline for swimming or just sitting and looking at the Ionian sea.
