A Temple for Hera

The Doric-style Temple “E” at the ancient Greek site of Selinunte was completed between 490 and 480 BC. Recent research reveals that it was probably dedicated to the goddess Hera, the protectress of weddings, engaged couples, and pregnant women.

  1. That is a very large and magnificent temple to the goddess Hera. I wish there were any temples like this in this country dedicated to women. Imagine that.

    1. Well, and (they presume) it was a temple where people went for blessings on their marriage and pregnancy. What a concept that these institutions should be hailed with such majesty!
