Where (In Italy) The Buffalo Roam

That mozzarella di bufala that you love so much is made from the milk of these ladies: water buffalo from Campania in southern Italy. Water buffalo are not related to the North American animal of the same name.

Fun fact: they bark. They don’t moo.

They are also hard to cultivate, so your best bet to meet them and eat the most outrageous mozzarella di bufala ever is to join me, Allison Scola of Experience Sicily, and Danielle Oteri (who took this photo) of Feast on History for Southern Secrets: Campania and Sicily’s Hidden Corners from June 28 to July 7, 2019. It’s five days in Campania and five days in Sicily, and it’s going to be marvelous! Did I mention we take care of all of the details?
