What an eventful day! The best part however, was assisting Experience Sicily’s friend Tom research his heritage in his grandmother’s hometown of Sambuca di Sicilia. Within minutes of us arriving, the women of the Office of Vital Records were on the case, pulling out old books and sorting out possible relatives. We learned grandma’s birthday (1887) and her home address, which we then visited around the corner. It’s a life-changing experience to know your roots! Fantastic!!

Today was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Not only is Sambuca a charming town (voted the most beautiful in all of Italy for 2016) and the home my gramdmother left in 1912, but I was able to find and meet my mom’s first cousin whom she never knew she had. Many thanks to Allison and Experience Sicily for facilitating this amazing experience.

Many thanks for assisting Tom & Karen in locating his grandmothers’ heritage–Hometown of Sambuca, Italy. I was delighted and overjoyed to speak with Nunzio. It was a dream come true that took some time to come to such a wonderful ending of his trip. However, I feel it’s just the beginning as when Tom arrives for Fathers Day we will be working on a collage of our family and forward to Nunzio which I’m sure will be thrilled.
