Enchanting Sicily, Day 10: The Slow Road

image

This morning we woke up to a clear blue sky over Mount Etna. So clear that the smoke from the volcano’s principal crater was dramatically distinguishable. What a wonderful gift after days of rain! Because, since we arrived in the shadow of the volcano, we haven’t seen the peak at all. Finally, a heavenly surprise early this morning! After basking in the mountain air and the beauty of Etna’s fascinating landscape, we drove north through the Nebrodi Mountains splitting the trip up into smaller parts and experiencing many highlights along the way. This photo of Cefalù is one of them… We took the slow road along the island’s north coast so that we could relish the blue sky and the turquoise sea.

  1. Yay! Glad it stopped raining. Beautiful picture – the colors are so vibrant in all that sunshine. I love to take the slow road – so much to see and time to see it.
